How to check WhatsApp Logs / Message Status
After logging in to your MSG91 dashboard, please navigate to the WhatsApp micro-service.
Navigate to the Logs option to check the status of the WhatsApp messages.
We have now started displaying the log status as “Failed by Meta.” When you click on this status error (Failed by Meta), you will see the detailed failure description.
Example: 131049 – This message was not delivered to maintain a healthy ecosystem engagement
You can also checked the custom logs by using the filter option.
You can add the custom filter and the customer number directly and check the logs.
Note: We are now providing both delivered and failed logs within the same logs section.
WhatsApp Message Statuses Explained
The following statuses help you understand the current state of your WhatsApp messages on the MSG91 platform.
Status | Description |
|---|---|
Submitted | The message has been successfully accepted by the MSG91 server and forwarded to Meta for delivery. At this stage, no acknowledgement has yet been received from Meta. |
Sent | The message has been accepted by Meta, and an acknowledgement has been received confirming that Meta has accepted the message for further processing. |
Delivered | The message has been successfully delivered by Meta to the recipient's device. However, it has either not been read yet, or the recipient has disabled read receipts. |
Read | The message has been successfully delivered and the recipient has read it. |
Failed by Meta | The message was forwarded to Meta by MSG91, but Meta rejected the request. You can review the associated Meta error code in the logs to determine the exact reason for the failure. |
Failed | The message was rejected by the MSG91 server before it could be forwarded to Meta. The corresponding error in the logs will indicate the reason for the rejection. |
Hold | The message failed at Meta due to retryable error codes such as 131049 or 131026. If the Retry Failed Messages feature is enabled, the message is automatically queued for a retry, which is generally attempted the next day at around 7:00 AM. |
